What We Do

Our journey began with a shared vision: to use artificial intelligence to make vascular care more precise, accessible, and patient-centered. Founded by vascular surgeons, engineers, and researchers, VASC.AI is a nonprofit collaboration rooted in clinical insight and academic rigor. What started as a simple idea — that better access to evidence saves lives — has grown into a platform developing intelligent tools to support the decisions that matter most. With every algorithm, interface, and conversation, we aim to bridge the gap between data and care. We’ve developed vascular surgery–specific Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems that bring AI from theory to bedside.

Our models generate precise, cited, and context-aware responses to clinician queries. Our latest Modular RAG architecture builds on this by enabling complex, multi-step reasoning tailored to specific vascular conditions and workflow needs.

We’re creating custom large language models that go beyond summarizing research — they help forecast outcomes.

By training on datasets that include clinical variables, operative details, and patient trajectories, our models support decision-making with recommendations grounded in outcome trends and real-world vascular surgery data.

Lightweight, specialized, and open-source
To promote equitable access, we’re building vascular-specific Small Language Models (SMLs) and Large Language Models (LLMs) that operate with minimal computational power while retaining clinical precision.

Designed for real-time use in the OR or on mobile devices, these models assist with documentation, risk scoring, and decision support — even in resource-limited environments.

Personalized support beyond the clinic
We are developing tools like vascBUDDY, an AI-powered health companion for patients with vascular conditions. These applications empower users to track their vitals, understand medications, and receive personalized, evidence-based guidance.
